* A Note About Stretching*: Make sure the earrings is appropriate for the size of the hole
in the ear. When stretching to a larger gauge, stretch gradually (i.e., from a 14g to a 12g,...not
from a 14g to a 10g). This will keep the ear from tearing. When stretching always use a lubricant.
I like Neosporin because most people already have it in their medicine cabinets, and it has an
anti-bacterial agent in case there is any tearing of the tissue. The first week or so, keep the area
around the earring clean (the same way you did when you first got your ears pierced.)
* I recommend stretching with a stainless steel initially. This will avoid any infections due
to silver allergies. Once the hole is stretched and healed, my sterling silver earrings are
wonderful to wear with no worries of irritation.
Large gauge earrings...
Because of the varying degrees of thickness in gauges, some earrings cannot be made in the larger (10g and
8g) wire.
